We have 95% passing rate in TJ for SY 09-10. We will post the latest success rate when we get the TJ semi-final result at the end of February 2010 and the final result sometime in April 2010.
Please refer to TJHSST website for information about their admissions:
95% success rate. Majority of our 6th graders last year were placed in Algebra I Honors in 7th grade. They definitely have an edge in TJ entrance test if they were placed in advanced Math class in middle school.
We also help prepare our 6th graders for Math 8 SOL test to ensure that they would get a Pass Advanced Score (500-600). A 91% in Iowa Algebra and a Math 8 SOL score of 500+ will automatically place the student in Algebra I Honors in grade 7, thus giving him an edge over other TJHSST applicants in the near future. See the latest statistics on the percentage of students admitted taking Algebra in Grade 7 and Geometry in Grade 8.
We compare the assessments or test results prior to instruction with the after-instruction result. Majority of our students last year (about 95%) who initially scored below 400 in SAT or PSAT boost their score up to 680 and 700s. The other 5% improved their score up to 580s to 650s.
We only accept 10 students per class. Since we are all public school teachers, we can only do this during the weekends. Your child will only be taught by licensed teachers.

Email from Vickey's Mom
Hi Krishna,
The impact that you have had on Victoria is larger then what I had imagined. Her reading fluency, confidence, and ability to retain information improved drastically and it shows this year. Mr. Wilhide, her 5th grade teacher, has recommended her for two honors classes in middle school next year. All those hours of innovative techniques and motivational teaching that you provided last year paid off. We have to simply say thank you for caring and being consistent and not giving up on Vickey, even when Vickey was giving up on herself. We will stay in contact to inform you of her progress.
Damaris didn't want to go to T.J. but is doing well at Heritage, she did get an invitation to leadership conference as a representative for Virginia and she will be attending. She is also part of a Bible study at Heritage and the Community Church and is busy with other school activities and sports.
It is always a pleasure to hear from you. I hope that you and your wonderful sons are doing great in Fairfax and we wish you much continued success.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rebecca
